In short
A named human reviews every entry, the AI never files or pays anything on its own, and you can always leave with your complete books. This page also covers what the £120 and £350 annual fees include, who is eligible, how monthly instalments work, and why there is no free trial.
Plain answers, in the order people usually ask.
Is a human really reviewing my books, or is that marketing?
Really. Every entry the AI drafts is approved, corrected, or queried by a human accountant under a review policy agreed with you — three verbs, each recorded with who and when. The only entries that post without a person looking first are those covered by an automation policy you have explicitly agreed, gated by confidence and materiality thresholds, and even those are logged, visible, and reversible. The whole workflow is one sentence: AI drafts. AgentLedger validates. People approve.
What does the AI actually do?
It reads your documents and drafts double-entry transactions, attaching a confidence score to each draft. It orders the review queue so the most doubtful items get attention first. That is the extent of its authority — it cannot post to your ledger on its own say-so, cannot move money, and cannot file anything.
What happens to my data?
It is encrypted at rest, access inside the platform is role-based, and accounts support two-factor authentication. Email connections use official APIs, are read-only, and disconnect in one click. Original documents are retained so every entry traces back to its evidence, and we operate under UK GDPR. Full detail is on our security page — including what we deliberately do not claim.
Can the AI file my taxes?
No, and we built it that way on purpose. Your books are drafted by AI, validated by AgentLedger, and approved by people; Making Tax Digital updates and any filings are then prepared from those approved books and submitted to HMRC only with your explicit authorisation. Nothing files autonomously. GOV.UK remains the authority on your obligations.
What does £350 cover, and who is eligible?
£350 is the fixed annual fee for an ordinary private limited company with turnover under £500,000 — the year's bookkeeping under our reviewed workflow. Eligibility is deliberately specific: an ordinary trading company with standard obligations. Groups, audit requirements, regulated activity, or urgent overdue filings are scoped individually first, so the price you are quoted is one we can stand behind.
And the £120 fee?
Sole traders and the self-employed are quoted individually — Ask for Details. Sole trader and partnership work is scoped before the price is confirmed — a short conversation, not a form-letter rejection — so nobody discovers mid-year that their situation was never a fit.
What if my turnover is over £500k, or I am a charity, CIC, or partnership?
Ask for Details — genuinely. At or above £500,000 turnover, and for every structure beyond an ordinary private limited company or straightforward self-employment (charities, CICs, LLPs, anything unusual), we quote individually because the work genuinely differs. You will get a considered answer, never a silent rejection.
How do the monthly instalments work?
The annual fee is fixed per tax year and split across the months remaining in it. Join in April and you pay twelve instalments; join later and you pay fewer, larger ones. The total for the tax year is always the same — instalments are a payment convenience, not a meter.
Can I leave, and what do I take with me?
Yes, and everything. Your books live as a plain-text double-entry ledger — a document that is readable and usable without our software — and we retain your original source documents. Leaving means taking a complete, portable record with you. We would rather keep clients by being good than by being difficult to leave.
Is there a free trial?
No. This is a real service in which qualified people review your actual books from day one — that work costs money from the first entry, and a "free" version of it would mean either unreviewed AI output (which we will not offer) or costs quietly recovered elsewhere (which we will not do). We price honestly instead: a fixed annual fee, paid monthly. Checking your eligibility costs nothing and commits you to nothing.
What happens when the AI gets something wrong?
It gets caught and corrected — that is the system working, not failing. Doubtful drafts queue first; a reviewer corrects the entry; the original draft, the correction, and the corrector are all preserved in the audit trail. Correction patterns then inform where review thresholds should sit. If you spot something, query the entry and a person answers with the full history in front of them.
How are duplicates handled?
Three detection layers — identical files by hash, near-identical drafts at entry level, and the same invoice arriving in different files via a content hash. Whatever is caught is held for a human decision with both candidates side by side: never auto-posted, never auto-discarded.
